The Unmerciful Servant

Mercy

Matthew 5:7 - Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Overview

This parable is a great example of how God is merciful towards us but that this mercy does have limits. It reveals that the very nature of God is to be merciful and to be merciful first towards us. He would hope that we would receive this mercy and replicate it in our lives. However, it’s quite hard to read the final verses of this parable as it becomes clear God cannot tolerate those that are unmerciful in response to his mercy.
