Church & Unity

Parts of the Body

'If one part of the body suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.'
1 Corinthians 12:26-27

Overview

Corinth was a trade hub in the time this letter was written and therefore was a real mix of class and culture. The Church reflected this diversity. Rather than focus on the difficulties that this was causing, Paul paints a picture of the Church as a body and that while all the parts of the body are different they all are important and contribute to the plans and purposes of God.
This means no matter what gifts or capabilities we have, we all are part of this body and have an important role to play, even further than this, we must not look at others and judge how useful they are as each part is just as valuable as the next!
